Cathy Myers on Bringing to Life the Evolved Nest

Cathy Myers Applies Evolved Nest Science to Family Leave and Childcare Policies

In this Nesting Ambassador Program’s Praxis Gathering, Cathy Myers of the venerable nonprofit, Family and Home Network, shares her four decades of public policy education and advocacy for family leave and childcare. As a Certified Nesting Ambassador, Cathy guides us through potential and needed shifts in cultural norms and public policy based on the science of the Evolved Nest.

In this Praxis Gathering, Lisa Reagan opens with Nature Connection and Restorative Healing Practices as examples of the Nesting Ambassador Program’s Learning Experience of the Evolved Nest. We acknowledge that, while human infants are biologically designed and expect to receive a Lived Experience of the Evolved Nest and its nine components, adults benefit from a trauma-informed/wellness-informed approach, or a Learning Experience of the Evolved Nest. Learn more about the Lived vs. the Learning Experience of the Evolved Nest here.

Over the course of five months, this year’s Winter 2026 Cohort, Nesting Ambassadors learn about the Science and Theory of the Evolved Nest with Darcia Narvaez on bi-weekly Saturdays, and experience supportive Praxis Gatherings on alternate Saturdays. The Praxis Gathering explores how to bring to life the Evolved Nest with visits from leaders, elders, storytellers, and activists and provides a safe, supportive environment to share our intentions and ideas for way finding, cycle breaking, and village building.
